The first task of a Jupiter Melody Water Ionizer is to remove any harmful components in the water: chlorine, trihalomethanes, phenols, sediment, odor, taste, organic waste, and bacteria of all kinds by the use of a multi-stage activated carbon filter. How Does a Water Ionizer Work?

Water Ionizers use a two step process. First a solid carbon filter removes things like chlorine and organic volatile chemicals, however carbon is not capable of removing the healthy dissolved minerals like magnesium, calcium and potassium. Next the ionization process migrates those remaining dissolved solids into two parts.

1. Cations, positive ions, gather at the negative electrode to create reduced water, which concentrate available alkaline minerals, such as calcium, magnesium and potassium from the source water. (Used for drinking)

2. Anions, negatively charged ions gather at the positive electrode to make oxidized water, which concentrate available acids such as nitrates, sulfides and chlorides, from the source water. (Used externally)

Antioxidant Properties

One additional property that is re-introduced to the water is known as "oxygen reduction potential," scientifically called redox . When taken internally, the reduced water with a redox potential of -250 to -350 mV readily donates its electrons to oddball oxygen radicals, blocking the excessive oxidation of healthy cells. This charged effect is what gives reduced water it's protective antioxidant effect.

Alkaline ionized water is electronically enhanced water that has been run over positive and negative electrodes and separated into both alkaline and acidic water.
