Electrolyzed
Functional Water Filters
The X®-10G electrolyzed
water generating system is based on a 3 compartment cell system, that
produces high-purity electrolyzed water, which offers sterilization and
cleaning applications, rapidly killing many types of bacteria, fungi and
viruses from the surface of many kinds of material. Its extremely low
chlorine gas causes no corrosion and thus makes it possible to joint-assemble
with other devices. Extremely small electrolyte consumption is one of
the special characteristics of WATRIX®-10G.
Unlike
chemical reagents, WATRIX®-10G uses only water, and achieves both
sterilization and cleaning. WATRIX®-10G can generate water that is
harmless to the human body and kill most microorganisms within 30 seconds,
e.g., mycobacterium, MRSA, pseudomonas, salmonella, shigella, candida,
bacillus, and virus. It is also environment-friendly.
The rapid mechanism
of sterilization is not by enzyme inhibition. The WATRIX Solution°s
mechanism of action is intra-cellular; as it destroys bacteria, fungi
and viruses without destroying human cells.
Unlike some bactericidal
agents destruction of certain bacterial organisms by exposure to WATRIX
Solution does not produce toxins. The bacteria, once destroyed, does not
produce toxins which could have potential harmful effects.
WATRIX Solution is non-toxic;
therefore, WATRIX Solution is safe to the target materials, staff, and
the environment.
WATRIX Solution appears
to be stable with an adequate shelf-life; the solution is capable of being
made and stored for later use.
(However, additional
testing investigation needs to be done to determine longevity after production
of each of the components of WATRIX Solution ; chlorine, ozone, free radicals)
The WATRIX-10G electrolyzed
water generator produces HPEW(High-Purity Electrolyzed Water). The patented
WATRIX electrolytic cell contains special platinum coated titanium electrode,
solid electrolyte and several kinds of ion exchange membrane. Its special
3 compartment structure ensures HPEW and can be used without any side
effect.

WATRIX-10G can limit
the possibility of dental infection.
It has been known for
more than 30 years that water delivered by dental units is highly contaminated
by numerous species of pathogen and non-pathogen microorganisms which
enter dental units retracted up from the oral cavity of patients undergoing
dental treatment or delivered by incoming municipal water, the so called
heterotrophic bacteria. Inside dental units, heterotrophic bacteria persist
in DUWLs(Dental Unit Water Lines) growing as a multispecie biofilm on
the inner surface and continuously supplying dental unit water system.

The continuous potential
of the infection occurs from the biofilm inside the tube line of the DUWLs.
This biofilm manufactures infected water and creates a contamination environment.
As the result
of the microbiological test, following microorganisms are detected in
the conventional DUWLs systems
- Pseudomonas
aeruginosa
- Escherichia
coli
- Legionella

WATRIX-10G is
fast...
WATRIX-10G
solution works in minutes to kill most bacteria. Simply saturate the area
to be disinfected, let stand for five minutes, then wipe it clean.
Water that's more
powerful than bleach
The primary
active species in WATRIX-10G solution is hypochlorous acid (HOCl), an
extremely powerful disinfectant that is many times more active as a biocide
than hypochlorite (bleach). Unlike bleach, WATRIX-10G solution is a dilute
mixture of mild oxidants at nearly neutral pH. It is produced by an on-site
generator to exacting specifications.
WATRIX-10G Disinfectant
Safety
Unlike many
other disinfectants, WATRIX-10G solution is safe. It requires no special
handling or disposal procedures and users do not need to wear any additional
personal protective equipment. Simply follow standard hospital/universal
safety precautions.
In normal
use, WATRIX solution will not irritate:
- Eyes
- Nose
- Throat
- Skin
- Lungs
WATRIX-10G has no
exposure limits and poses no hazard to the environment
We evaluated
bactericidal and sporicidal activity of the electrolyzed oxidized water
generated by WATRIX-10G against several clinical isolates of bacteria
and yeasts.
All strains
of bacteria and yeast were killed within 30 seconds after an exposure
to 40ppm of electrolyzed oxidized water generated by WATRIX-10G. All vegetative
forms of Bacillus subtilis are killed within 10, 4 and 2 minutes in 40
and 50 ppm of electrolyzed oxidized water, respectively. All spore Forms
of Bacillus subtilis are killed within 30, 15 and 10 minutes in 30, 40
and 50 ppm of electrolyzed water, respectively.

Oral Toxicity
Acute oral
toxicity study of WATRIX solution was carried out in compliance with the
Testing Guidelines for Safety Evaluation of Drugs (Notification No. 1999-61)
issued by Korea Food and Drug Administration on December 22, 1999, Good
Laboratory Practice Regulations for Non-clinical Laboratory Studies (Notification
No. 2000-63) issued y Korea Food and Drug Administration on December 11,
2000, and OECD Principles of Good Laboratory Practice (1997).
The present
study was conducted to investigate the acute toxicity of WATRIX solution
in SpragueDawley rats. Ten male and ten female rats were randomly assigned
to two experiental groups(5 rats/sex/group) and were administered by gavage
at dose levels of 0 and 20ml/kg body weight. Mortality, clinical signs,
body weight changes and gross findings were monitored for 14 days following
the administration.
This study
did not show any treatment-related effects on mortality, clinical signs,
body weight changes, and gross findings in any group of both sexes. In
this study, the dose level of 20ml/kg body weight was the maximum dosage
limit for a gavage. The results indicate that the acute toxicity of the
test item is low.
Based on
the results, it was conclueded that a single oral dose of WATRIX solution
had no toxic effect in both sexes of rats at a dose level of 20ml/kg and
that the lethal dose might be higher than 20ml/kg in both sexes of rats.
No Eye Irritation
No Dermal Irritation
The acute
dermal irritation study was performed by KRICT. The present study was
conducted to evaluate the skin irritation potential of WATRIX solution.
A volume of 0.5 ml of the test item was applied to intact and abraded
skins, respectively, for 24 hours in 6 healthy male New Zealand White
rabbits. Parameters measured during the 72 hours observation period were
mortality, clinical signs, body weight changes, and local irritation.
Clinical signs, mean body weight changes and dead animals suspected to
be due to test item were not observed. and abnormal skin reaction was
not observed.
Based on
the results, it was concluded that application of WATRIX solution did
not induce any irritation response in the either intact or abraded skin
of New Zealand White rabbits, and the test item was non-irritating material.

Corrosiveness
Potentiodynamic
polarization tests were performed to compare and evaluate the corrosiveness
of two kinds of sterilizing solutions (WATRIX solution, produced by MicroBank
Co., Ltd. and EW-A, produced by another company) and city water for the
selective stainless steels such as AISI 304 and AISI 316L.
The corrosiveness
of each testing solution was evaluated by the corrosion potential (Ecorr),
pitting potential (Epit) and corrosion rate (icorr) by Tafel extrapolation
method measured from potentiodynamic polarization curves.
The corrosion rates of samples (304 and 316L) were almost similar in the
two sterilizing solutions (EW-A and WATRIX solution) and slightly lower
than in city water (1.0°ø10-3 ~ 1.6°ø10-3 mm/year
for sterilizing solutions, and 1.6°ø10-3 ~ 2.1°ø10-3
mm/year for city water). However, EW-A is found to more corrosive in causing
pitting corrosion than is WATRIX solution. Pitting corrosion took place
in 304 at 590 mVSCE in EW-A that is about 274 mV noble to Ecorr (316 mV).
On the other hand, pitting of 304 stainless steel did not occur in WATRIX
solution solution up to 1.3 V.
It can be
concluded from the experimental results that EW-A is more corrosive compared
with WATRIX solution to pitting corrosion, so EW-A can be used for 316L
but not for 304, and WATRIX solution is suitable for both alloys.
